...but I sort of feel like posting this poem a family-friend wrote. I never viewed him as much of a poet, but whatevz. Anyways, obviously, he's been in Iraq and has seen some major crap...so yeah!
Take a man and put him alone, Put him twelve thousand miles from home. Empty his heart of all but blood, Make him live in sand, in mud. This is the life I have to live, This the soul to God I give.
You have your parties and drink your beer, While young men are dying over here. Plant your signs on the White House lawn; "Lets get out of Iraq". Use your signs and have your fun, Then refuse to use a gun. There's nothing else for you to do, Then I'm supposed to die for you? There is one thing that you should know; And that's where I think you should go! I'm already here and it's too late.
I've traded all my love for all this hate. I'll hate you till the day I die. You made me hear my buddy cry. I saw his leg and his blood shed,
Then I heard them say, "This one's dead". It was a large price for him to pay, To let you live another day. He had the guts to fight and die, To keep the freedom you live by. By his dying, your life he buys,
But who gives a fuck if a Soldier dies!

Aww... now I feel all lazy and bad and stuff. I don't even want to imagine some of the stuff he's seen. We see pretty graphic violence on movies and video games and TV all the time, but seeing people you know getting blown up in front of your face...damn, I don't know how anyone can deal with that. And here we are, more concerned about the whereabouts of Paris Hilton and crap like that. There are those out there that won't see tomorrow and it's because of our decisions. But what the fuck can we do about it, when the one who could bring them back won't even hear reason? It's enough to make one go insane. But what the people over there actually see is far too grusome to imagine and all anyone over here does about it is tangle themselves in a headlock, leaving those who need help unarmored, underfunded, and... ah, hell, I don't know. I'm not sure a country where a celebrity's jail release ranks higher than a soldiers death is a country worth fighting for, but we will sure as hell support those who still got the faith in themselves to do so.
Yeah really. I mean at the Christmas party (the last time he was briefly in town) he had a bunch of pictures of Iraq and stuff. They were just like buses, buildings, bridges, a few far-off explosions etc. And everything seem alright, right? And the adults are like, "Well those are some nice pictures..."
After they left we're like, "Dude...those weren't bad, man!!" He just looked at us and muttered,
"Yeah...that's because I deleted the ones of people getting blown up..."
I mean really! Jesus! People will say, hey! We care about you! But do they really!? What are we doing to stop such atrocities? Sometimes....*sigh*....sometimes I want to just move to the moon.
The moon would totally be sweet... all the cheese and what not. It'll all be so happy and quiet, until, of course, when we attempt to "liberate" the moon men...
Yeah...and then we'll make them our slaves and the there will bit the Moon martian Liceration Front!!!
Liberation*
I was referencing Hermione, lol
